Offer Description
Applications are invited for a Research Support position in the Computational Neuroscience Group (CNS), https://www.upf.edu/web/cns, led by Gustavo Deco, at the Center for Brain and Cognition, https://www.upf.edu/web/cbc, Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona). The candidate will be part of the Horizon 2020 EU FET Flagship project: "Human Brain Project Specific Grant Agreement 3", HBP SGA3, grant agreement num. 945539. The position is for 4 months, until the end of the project, 30-September-2023.
The candidate will work on analysis and modeling of human neuroimaging data associated with neurological disorders.
Specific tasks are:
- Analysis of global brain dynamics associated to cognitive impairments.
- Validation of whole-brain network model workflows for the simulation of brain states and transitions.
- Assist in clinical interpretation of analysis and modeling results.
- Assist in manuscript preparation.
The duration of these tasks is estimated for a period of 4 months.
Planned remuneration: 23.864,42 € gross / year approx.

- Degree in Medicine or similar.
- Good knowledge of MATLAB and Python.
- Demonstrable knowledge (publications and presentations) of fMRI analysis and modeling.
- High level of English.
- Able to start 1 June 2023.
The expected start date is June 1st, 2023, the job is in Barcelona, and Nie and a work permit is required.
Additional Information
The selection of the candidates will be made through evaluation of the curriculum and, where appropriate, with the carrying out a test and/or interview. Valuation will be as follows:
1. Academic background (0-20 points).
2. Professional experience and suitability to the proposed profile: (0-60 points):
- Proven experience (publications or conference presentations) with analysis and modeling of human neuroimaging data associated with neurological disorders.
3. Other merits (0-20 points):
- High English skills, both written and spoken.
- Programming skills (Matlab and Python).
The minimum score to pass the selection process is 70 points. The candidate with the highest score in the selection process will be offered the job and in case of resignation, the position will be awarded to the next person in order of score obtained.
