Assistant Professor/Researcher in Economics, Applied economics, Agricultural economics, Animal health and veterinary economics, Environmental and natural resource economics, Health economics – fixed term 3 years
The Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences of the University of Bologna (UNIBO) issued a call for candidatures to a position of researcher – fixed term 3 years. The researcher will support the implementation of the H2020 European Project BIOSECURE: Evaluation of biosecurity measures in animal farming and the development of supply chain business models (2023-2026).
Type of position: 3 years fixed duration Assistant Professor/Researcher (Ricercatore Tipo A -RTD/A-, art. 24, paragraph 3, letter A, Law No. 240/2010; sector competition reference 07/A1: Agricultural economics and appraisal; Scientific sector AGR/01 - Agricultural Economics and Rural Appraisal).
Duty station: University of Bologna, Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences (DISTAL) – via G. Fanin, 50 Bologna, and Agri-food Campus of Cesena, Piazza Goidanich 60, Cesena – Italy.
Duration: 3 years – fixed term.

Tasks: Support the responsible of the UNIBO research unit participating in the implementation of the Horizon-EU project “Enhanced and cost-effective biosecurity in livestock production” (BIOSECURE) concerning the implementation and the evaluation of biosecurity measures in animal production
Contribute to:
- the analysis of biosecurity measure costs in different animal breeding typologies;
- the evaluation of the economic impact in several national policy scenarios, through the structural and organizational analysis of animal supply chains;
- the elaboration of supply chain business models based on the implementation of biosecurity measures.
Coordinate doctoral students and other researchers involved in the project’s UNIBO unit and cooperate with researchers of the partner foreign institutions in the implementation of the project’s activities and events, data collection and exchange, production of deliverables and official reporting
During the three years of the contract, the selected candidate will be expected to publish at least 3 articles on the project topics in referenced scientific journals indexed in SCOPUS and/or WOS. RTD-A contracts also require an annual amount of 350 hours of didactic activities, which may include preparation of didactic materials and assistance to students (the performance of lectures will not be required for this position).
Requisites: candidates should be in possession of a doctorate degree. The ideal candidate for this position:
- demonstrates with his/her publications and scientific background a profound interest and excellent skills in economic evaluations related to animal health and/or environmental health and/or human health and/or in the economic analysis of agricultural sector and agri-food supply chains;
- has deep knowledge of empirical quantitative methods and relevant statistical software;
- has excellent writing and speaking skills in English. The knowledge of other languages could be considered an asset.
- proven interest in the economic implications of the One Health approach could be considered a relevant asset.
Gross salary: annual gross salary (including income taxes and social fees) for this type of position is € 36.840,
