Offer Description
The Department of Integrative Biology and Biodiversity Research, Institute of Wildlife Biology and Game Management is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate (project employment).
Extent of employment: 40 hours per week
Duration of employment: 1st of September 2023, limited to 31st of December 2024
Gross monthly salary and pay grade in terms of collective agreement for university staff (payable 14 times per year): B1 lit. b, € 4.351,90
Responsibilities
- Scientific research in the EU-HORIZON project “Wind In My Backyard” (acronym: WIMBY), developing high-resolution, spatial explicit models for selected wildlife species (https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/101083460)
- Development, parametrization and evaluation of connectivity models and application of graph-theoretical approaches
- Dissemination of results via scientific publications, conferences, and to the public collaboration with an international multidisciplinary team
Required skills and qualifications
- Doctoral degree/PhD with a scientific focus on wildlife ecology, ecological modelling or a related field
- Diploma degree in wildlife ecology and wildlife management or other equivalent university degree
- Language skills: English, excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team
Desirable skills and qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of the statistical software “R” and statistical data analyses is essential
- Candidates should have demonstrated experience in spatially-explicit ecological modelling (e.g. ENMs, Circuitscape, Conefor)
- Experience and skills in handling large datasets, statistical analysis of presence-only data and skills in model parameterization and evaluation are strongly preferred
- Documented experience in scientific writing and publication in peer-reviewed scientific journals
