The "European Research Day" is an event where European researchers based in Japan, but also researchers of any nationality (including Japanese) with an interest in Europe exchange and discuss about their research projects and professional and personal experience in Japan; and network with other researchers in order to advance in their careers.
The very first edition of this event meant as a meeting place for European researchers based in Japan was held on 11 December 2015 at the Delegation of the European Union to Japan, the second edition on 25 November 2016, and the third edition on 4 December 2017; at the same venue. In 2018 the event was held on 29 September at the Italian Cultural Institute Tokyo, transitionning towards an event organised in a closer cooperation with pre-existing European researchers associations in Japan. Starting 2018, a piggyback initiative called European Research Nights started with a few pilot editions, before becoming a full part of the progamme in 2019 with 4 to 5 editions foreseen, co-organised with researchers associations.
