Research Scientist, Active Hyperspectral Sensing - Espoo, Finland

Do you want to join our team and explore new applications in remote hyperspectral sensing?

We are now looking for a Research Scientist with a background in photonics to work in the Optical Spectroscopy research team. Our main activities are related to the monitoring of industrial processes using advanced optical methods such as active hyperspectral sensing or laser spectroscopy.

You will participate in different research and commercial projects related to hyperspectral sensing. One of the main goals of your work will be to develop prototypes for new applications in hyperspectral sensing in collaboration with other team members. You will take part in field trials to validate the developed technologies. You will develop the team's scientific output by participating in publications and IPR activities.

To be successful in these tasks, you have

Requirements include at least a master’s degree in a technical field with relevant background in hyperspectral imaging and/or optical spectroscopy and a can-do attitude. In addition the following competences are also an advantage: 

  • Expertise in developing and evaluating free-space optical systems and/or fiber optic systems.

  • Hands-on experience on infrared (IR) laser systems and electro-optical devices.

  • Experience in advanced data analysis and programming using Python / Matlab / Labview.

  • Expertise in supercontinuum generation / QCL / ICL.

  • Expertise in hardware/firmware development for high-speed electronic acquisition and control systems using FPGA / DSPs.

Acting as a team member in projects requires flexibility, willingness to communicate and co-operate with other researchers and partners. We hope that you are a problem solver with willingness to learn and you have the ability to work in a fast-changing environment. You possess strong communication abilities, particularly in English.
