Research Manager

Founded in 1968 as a trading company for Scandinavian laboratory equipment, SKAN is now global market leader in the specialist area of isolator construction for aseptic applications. One of our core competencies is the manufacture of process isolators for pharmaceutical-aseptic production. Even the most complex customer requirements can be fulfilled thanks to the experts at our in-house laboratories who research innovative solutions for isolator technology. 

We currently employ around 800 employees with over 40 nationalities represented. More than half of our employees are based at our main location at Allschwill in Basel-Country.

Responsibilities

  • Coordination of research and development activities (sensors, catalysts, surface modifications) with focus on our new business strategy in research 
  • Ensure the delivery of work packages and project support according to the project objectives, schedules and costs, and the delivery of high quality data, presentations and reports
  • They ensure excellent communication with stakeholders (e.g. external project partners, project team and line management) and excellent interaction and cooperation with interfaces (e.g. production facilities)
  • You create reports and maintain the documentation of experiments and order analyses
  • They identify, evaluate and implement new technologies for aseptic formulation and process development and related analyses, including student support 
  • Strong support for our SKANalytix platform, a service hub for standard analyses for the pharmaceutical and life sciences. The support includes the planning and implementation of customer studies as well as the necessary documentation
  • Developing the skills and capabilities of the laboratory team, implementing process improvements, supporting the laboratory team in the detailed planning, execution and interpretation of experiments

Hardskills

  • Doctorate in biotechnology, pharmaceutical sciences or Master's degree with profond experience
  • Strong technical expertise in pharmaceutical development (formulation, freeze-drying, pharmaceutical processes including transfers) of biologicals
  • Experience in GxP environments
  • Knowledge of aseptic production and filling and is an advantage

Softskills

  • German business fluent
  • Very good oral communication skills and sound technical writing and documentation skills in English
  • Excellent organisational skills, the ability to react to changing priorities and the ability to identify problems and work towards solutions
  • Great care in the preparation of reports
