Present your research in person at the GAIN22 Annual Conference and Talent Fair in Bonn, Germany on Saturday, September 3rd, 2022. The winner will receive a cash prize of €2,500 presented by the German Center for Research and Innovation (DWIH).

The GAIN Science Slam is all about science communication. Five international researchers from various fields will present their findings in a seven-minute pitch in front of the GAIN22 audience. The objective is to impart current research results to a diverse audience in an understandable and entertaining way. Various presentations suitable for the format are allowed. The GAIN audience is also the Science Slam Jury.

GAIN seeks five international researchers to present their findings in the brief and lively Science Slam format. Any postdoc, early career researcher, or GAIN22 attendee can apply. Only your own research can be presented. Applications from all disciplines are welcome! The GAIN22 Science Slam is open to all, regardless of place of residency or nationality.

More information

The GAIN annual conference is the largest German science and research career fair in the U.S., coming to Germany for the first time this year, with participants ranging from early career researchers to representatives of over 60 German universities, research institutions, and funding agencies. The GAIN22 audience will vote on the winner.

How to apply:

Send an email to waisel@daad.de and submit a one-minute video pitching your slam in English.

Deadline: Friday, July 15th, 2022.

The GAIN22 committee will select up to five slammers. They will participate in a workshop on science communication with GAIN trustee and seasoned science slammer Martin R. Lichtenthaler in mid-August to prepare for the science slam.

Please note that as mentioned above, interested applicants submit their video pitch by email and finalists are selected to present in-person in Germany. Travel and lodging costs are not covered, but German-speaking researchers may apply for the GAIN participation scholarship as long as they are currently abroad or have returned from a stay abroad in the last two years.
