The CRISPR-cas system has revolutionized biological science. This genome editing tool has a powerful therapeutic potential, ranging from rare inherited diseases, to Alzheimer’s, cancer or bacterial infections. The biggest advantage of CRISPR technology is its simplicity to implement changes in DNA that remain stable, resulting in a truly edited genome. However, the implications of CRISPR are well beyond experimental science: are we ready to rewrite the human genome?
