Research institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) - from all countries - are eligible to host postdoctoral researchers based in Europe (EU Member States or countries associated to the pillar 1 of Horizon Europe) for up to two years, at no cost to the host institution. The funding is provided in full by the European Commission through the MSCA Postdoctoral Global Fellowships.
The 2026 call is now open. Deadline: 9 September 2026.

What is an MSCA Postdoctoral Global Fellowship?
The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships are highly competitive grants that fund experienced researchers - of any nationality, in any scientific field - to carry out their own research project at a host institution in another country.
Under the Global Fellowship modality, researchers based in an EU Member State or a country associated to Horizon Europe can spend 12 to 24 months at a research organisation in a third country (such as any LAC country), before returning to Europe for a mandatory 12-month period. The entire grant is paid by the European Commission; there is no co-funding requirement for the LAC host institution.
Candidates must hold a PhD and have up to 8 years of research experience. The grant covers salary and living costs, research and travel expenses, and family and special needs allowances where applicable.

Why host an MSCA Postdoctoral Global Fellow?
Hosting a Global Fellow brings significant benefits to your institution:
- Fully funded position. The European Commission covers all costs, including the researcher's salary, mobility allowance, and research budget. No financial contribution is required from the host.
- Access to high-calibre researchers. MSCA Global Fellows are selected through a rigorous, competitive evaluation process. They bring proven research excellence and a strong international profile.
- Stronger international networks. A Global Fellow connects your institution to European research communities, opening doors to new collaborations, joint projects, and future funding opportunities.
- Boosted visibility and prestige. Hosting a fully funded European researcher signals your institution's commitment to research excellence and international cooperation.
- Long-term collaboration. The mandatory return phase in Europe, combined with the research ties built during the fellowship, often translates into lasting partnerships between the LAC institution and European teams.
