The 2026 call for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships opened on 9 April 2026. With a total budget of €399.05 million and an expected 1,600 projects to be funded, this is the largest individual fellowship scheme in Horizon Europe, and it is fully open to Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) researchers and institutions.
What are the MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships?
MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships support experienced researchers holding a doctoral degree, with up to 8 years of research experience after their PhD, to carry out their own research and training project in cooperation with a host organisation in another country.
All nationalities and all research areas are eligible.
What does it mean for LAC?
There are two fellowship modalities, both relevant for the LAC region:
- European Fellowships: LAC-based researchers can apply to carry out their project at a host organisation in an EU Member State or country associated to Horizon Europe, for up to 24 months.
- Global Fellowships: researchers based in Europe can apply to spend part of their fellowship (12 to 24 months) at a LAC research organisation, before returning to Europe. LAC institutions are encouraged to post hosting offers on the EURAXESS portal to attract these fellows. Check our tutorial on how to post a hosting offer.
Both modalities fund the researcher's salary, research costs, and mobility allowances. No co-funding is required from the host organisation.
