Frontier research in Europe with the European Research Council (ERC), webinar for Brazil

EURAXESS América Latina e Caribe (LAC) organizou um webinar intitulado “Pesquisa de fronteira na Europa com o Conselho Europeu de Pesquisa (ERC)” no dia 2 de dezembro, dirigido a pesquisadores do Brasil. Um pesquisador brasileiro titular de uma bolsa do ERC e dois avaliadores (membros de painéis do ERC) com sede no país compartilharam as suas dicas e recomendações para uma proposta bem-sucedida ao ERC e responderam as perguntas do público.

• Jens Baumgarten, membro do painel ERC SH5, Professor de História da Arte, Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), Brasil 

 Sobre o ERC 

O ERC, criado pela União Europeia em 2007, é a principal organização europeia de financiamento da pesquisa de excelência de fronteira. Financia pesquisadores criativos, de qualquer nacionalidade e idade, para a realização de projetos em toda a Europa. O ERC oferece quatro tipos de bolsas principais: Bolsas de arranque (Starting), bolsas de consolidação (Consolidator), bolsas avançadas (Advanced) e bolsas de sinergia (Synergy). Com as Bolsas para a Prova de Conceito, o ERC ajuda seus pesquisadores a criar pontes entre a sua investigação pioneira e as fases iniciais da sua comercialização. O ERC é dirigido por um órgão de direção independente, o Conselho Científico. Desde novembro de 2021, Maria Leptin é a Presidente do ERC. O orçamento global do ERC de 2021 a 2027 é superior a 16 bilhões de euros, no âmbito do programa Horizonte Europa, sob a responsabilidade do Comissário Europeu para a Inovação, Investigação, Cultura, Educação e Juventude.

EURAXESS Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) organised a webinar entitled “Frontier research in Europe with the European Research Council (ERC)” on 2 December, targeting researchers from Brazil. A Brazilian ERC awardee and two evaluators (ERC panel members) based in the country shared their practical tips and recommendations for a successful ERC proposal. Following their presentations, speakers engaged in Q&A session with the audience.

About the ERC 

 The ERC, set up by the European Union in 2007, is the premier European funding organisation for excellent frontier research. It funds creative researchers of any nationality and age, to run projects based across Europe. The ERC offers four core grant schemes: Starting Grants, Consolidator Grants, Advanced Grants and Synergy Grants. With its additional Proof of Concept Grant scheme, the ERC helps grantees to bridge the gap between their pioneering research and early phases of its commercialisation. The ERC is led by an independent governing body, the Scientific Council. Since November 2021, Maria Leptin is the President of the ERC. The overall ERC budget from 2021 to 2027 is more than €16 billion, as part of the Horizon Europe programme, under the responsibility of European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth.
