33rd CORNET Call: Funding for research projects with companies (Brazil and Peru eligible in LAC)

cornet

This call is organised by CORNET (COllective Research NETworking). The partners in CORNET are national or regional ministries and funding organisations from various countries, facilitating international cooperation on the basis of their respective national and regional funding schemes.

Participating Funding Agencies:

Twice a year, CORNET issues Calls for Proposals for international Collective Research projects involving at least two different countries/regions. The calls follow a bottom-up approach: every topic that supports SMEs in their innovation efforts is welcome.

Who?

A CORNET project consortium consists of three pillars in each participating country/region:

  1. SME organisation, association or cluster (depending on national structures),
  2. research performer and
  3. SME user committee with a minimum of 5 SMEs per country/region (the required number might differ depending on national rules) assuring that the research meets their innovation needs.

One of the participating countries needs to take the lead as project coordinator and has to submit the joint proposal within the stated deadline.

What? Type of activities that can be funded

The main types of targeted activities are:

  • industrial research and development;
  • applied research and development;

In some countries/regions, the following activities can also be funded:

  • demonstrations;
  • technology/knowledge transfer;
  • dissemination workshops and training

An overview of the national funding programmes of all participating CORNET partners can be found on the CORNET website. For more details please contact the respective national/regional funding organisation.

How?

In CORNET at least two COUNTRIES/REGIONS(a) (not only two regions of the same country), that have a funding organisation participating in the CORNET call, need to submit a joint proposal requiring three entities per applicant: An SME ASSOCIATION, ORGANISATION or GROUP(b) that submits and coordinates the project, a RESEARCH ORGANISATION(RTOC ) that is (sub-)contracted to perform the research activities, and an SME USER COMMITTEE(SME UCD) consisting of at least 5 SMEs per country (the required number might differ depending on national rules), which guides the research, ensures the pre-competitive character and benefits from the results. However, the structure per country/region can vary according to national/regional rules. FUNDING(e) is provided country-by-country, combining resources into one project budget.

The consortium has to be well-balanced (see also section ‘FUNDING’ on the guidelines). This will be an important evaluation criterion. The illustrative scheme below is useful:
