European researchers based in Japan: learn, share, connect!
Discuss research, careers, relations with Europe!
Create a new European Researchers in Japan Association!
The European Research Day (ERD) was the second edition of an event organised by EURAXESS Japan with the support of the Delegation of the European Union to Japan, which aims to bring together the European research (and thus researchers) community currently based in Japan. It took place on 25 November 2016 at the Delegation of the European Union to Japan, in Tokyo.
It was a one-day workshop featuring presentations by European researchers, discussion panels on issues of relevance for Japan-Europe mobility and research cooperation, and a networking reception.
During the course of this one-day conference, no less than 18 researchers provided insights on their research projects, testimonies, personal experience feedback and career expectations through a series of talks. Special sessions featuring experts provided attendees with information relevant to continuing their career in research, in Europe or elsewhere.
Some of the already existing associations of European researchers in Japan were presented, with the aim of emulating and fostering interest among the community in order to kickstart a whole new European Researchers in Japan association.
The event fostered exchanges and dialogue. Discussions continued during the evening reception, thus allowing researchers to share information with their peers in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
