Alianza 4 Universidades (A4U) has secured more Erasmus+ funding for exchange of 4 staff and doctoral students with Indian partner universities in 2023-2024 academic year. These funds will help continue student and staff exchange between 4 universities members of A4U (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona) and 6 Indian partner universities: Jawaharlal Nehru University Delhi, Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi, Indian Institute of Technology in Madras, Indian Institute of Science of Bangalore, Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay and Symbiosis International University Pune.
Since 2017 A4U has been able to fund the exchange of 34 Indian and Spanish staff and students, and more visits are being planned for the next academic year thanks to the new funding. PhD students, teaching and administrative staff from all subject areas from Indian partner universities and A4U universities can apply. Erasmus+ provides a fixed allowance for travel and living expenses from 2 to 5 months for students, and for 7 days for staff.
It should be noted that candidates from disadvantaged backgrounds are welcome to apply. One top-up grant for a participant with special needs or disabilities is available. As a result of the exchange, students improve their language and intercultural skills, increase their confidence and gain international experience that counts towards their qualification. A research stay abroad can help doctoral students jumpstart their career. Staff also benefit from exchange as they share best practice and have a chance to have a first-hand experience of a different educational system. Through Erasmus+ programme participating universities have opportunities to forge cooperation in teaching and research, attract talent and increase the number of international students and staff, which in turn contribute to their diversity andinternationalisation.
The application deadline is 24 March 2023 for staff. The call for PhD students closes on 31 March 2023. All information on how to apply can be found on A4U website.
