The Faculty of Life Sciences offers a multidisciplinary environment, with several leading research groups.
Prof. Pedro Laborda ́s lab is looking for a highly-motivated postdoctoral researcher to contribute to the work and advancements of the research group (see last publications in research gate: https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Pedro_Laborda). Pedro Laborda has Spanish nationality, and is a former researcher of the University of Zaragoza, CSIC and Nanjing Agricultural University among others.
Our research group is a young, international and creative team, with more than 30 members, including 3 associate professors and 1 full professor. Our work focuses on the development of alternative strategies for the management of plant diseases (mainly caused by bacterial and fungal pathogens), and on the identification of new plant pathogens. We use chemistry, molecular biology, plant science and microbiology to find new bioactive compounds, mainly from microorganisms and plant extracts, and study their mode-of-action. We commonly work with rice, soybean, sweet potato and fruit trees; however, we are opened to all kinds of agricultural crops. We also have several ongoing projects related to the interactions between rhizobacteria and plants, genetic manipulation of microorganisms to improve the production of bioactive metabolites, and development of antifungal packaging for the preservation of food products.
Depending on the interests of the candidate.
