The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) was created by the EU in 2008 to power Europe’s ability to innovate by tackling global challenges. The EIT is the only EU initiative to bring business, education and researchorganisations together across Europe to create unique opportunities for Europe’s students, entrepreneurs andinnovators to turn their best ideas into products and services for the EU and its citizens.

The Institute boosts the development of dynamic pan-European partnerships between leading companies, research labs and universities in EIT Innovation Communities. Each focuses on a specific global challenge:

The EIT has become Europe’s largest innovation ecosystem, playing a unique and well-established role in the European innovation landscape. The EIT Community has delivered:

EIT Community Offer to entrepreneurs, start-ups and scale-ups

EIT Climate-KIC supports entrepreneurs in different stages of maturity, from early-stage ideation through seed funding and beyond. Their offers to aspiring entrepreneurs, start-ups and scale-ups include: Climathon, Climate Launchpad, Greenhouse pre-incubator, and Accelerator programmes, incl. EIT RIS Acceleration programme.

EIT Digital scales fast-growing technology start-ups through EIT Digital Accelerator, recognized as one of the five World Top Public Business Accelerators, and the EIT Digital Challenge, an international pitching competition for promising scale-ups with a possibility to win a EUR 100 000 prize package. In the EIT RIS counties the EIT Digital runs an additional business creation programme ARISE Venture Creation Programme which supports establishment of deep-tech ventures. The programme is implemented in partnership with local accelerators.

EIT InnoEnergy’s services are split into two main services for start-ups at different stages of maturity: the Highway™, an accelerator for entrepreneurs and start-ups at the beginning of their journey, and the Boostway™, for more firmly established companies looking to consolidate and grow their business. In the EIT RIS counties the EIT InnoEnergy runs Primer to support early stage start-ups and business idea holders. The programme is run in partnerships with local business support organisations. The graduating start-ups have a further chance to continue into Highway™.

EIT Health’s Accelerator is a business creation programme for innovators at every stage of the process. They INCUBATE, VALIDATE, SCALEideas through such programmes as, for example, the CaixaImpulse, (MedTech bootcamp, Open API Bootcamp, Patient Innovation Bootcamp, bioentrepreneurs Bootcamp), Bootcamp, Headstart Funding and Catapult, GoGlobal, and GoldTrack, providing also mentoring and access to investors and global networks. (Other programs : Start-ups meet Pharma, Investor Network, InnoStars Awards, Living Labs & Testbeds, Digital Sandbox, Validation Lab Bootcamp, Bridgehead, mentoring & coaching network).

EIT RawMaterials offers multiple services to SMEs and start-ups in the raw materials sector mainly through its Accelerator, and Start-Up and SME Booster programmes.

EIT Food business creation services offer several services to innovators, including entrepreneurs and start-ups through a powerful business creation ecosystem. Support is available at every step of a company’s development, from ideation to acceleration and funding, and offers a gender-balanced approach. Among them: the Seedbed Incubator, Change Makers, the EIT Food Accelerator Network, and the RisingFoodStars Association. EIT Food RIS Innovation grants support prospective early stage start-ups and entrepreneurs from the EIT RIS counties and prepare them for further EIT Food acceleration programmes.
