imπACT is a research and training programme fostering impact development and entrepreneurship skills through research for postdoctoral researchers. imπACT will equip 20 postdoctoral researchers with the necessary knowledge and technology transfer skills to take up leadership positions in academia, business and civil society and to deploy intersectoral solutions the European R&I landscape so much needs.


Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) is a competitive, high-quality, socially committed and internationally oriented university located in Brussels, Belgium. It counts 4 campuses in Brussels, 8 faculties and around 160 research groups most of them involved in one or more of the 9 strategic research clusters: 1) big data, 2) brain & behaviour, 3) city dynamics, 4) environmental issues, 5) fighting diseases, 6) small particles, 7) smart engineering, 8) societal challenges, and 9) the circle of life.


The candidates have to meet the rule of international mobility, which implies that the candidates cannot have resided in Belgium for more than 12 months in the last 3 years before the call deadline. Take into account that time spent as part of a procedure for obtaining refugee status under the Geneva Convention, compulsory national service and/or short stays such as holidays are not taken into account for calculating the 12 months.

At the start of the employment contract between VUB and the postdoctoral researcher, the latter cannot have any other contract with any other organization.


A postdoctoral position for 2 years, covering a total cost of €4.300 per month, including €4.100 living allowance per month + €200 mobility allowance per month. This will result in about €3.500 gross and €2.200-€2.500 net salary, depending on years of experience. Additionally, we will foresee in a one-time €500 travel allowance for the initial travel from the home country to the host institution as well as in costs related to health and work insurance. Support in the arrangement of housing and other administrative matters.
