The Marie Curie Alumni Association Brazil Chapter, in partnership with EURAXESS BRAZIL and the Federal University of Maranhão, will hold from September 27 to 29, 2017 the "1st MCAA BRAZIL-EUROPE Workshop: Building a sustainable future based in cooperative science, technology and education" at the Centro de Ciências Biológicas e Saúde -CCBS/UFMA at Dom Delgado University Campus in São Luís - MA. The event is supported by the State of Maranhão research Foundation FAPEMA.
The 1st MCAA Brazil-Europe Workshop on research collaboration will bring together to São Luís, researchers, policy makers, and students from several Brazilian and European institutions and universities, for three days of networking and discussions.
The event is a unique opportunity to foster the integration of professionals in Maranhão state with their Brazilian and European counterparts, as well as to increase the dissemination of international mobility and funding opportunities, and support the process of internationalisation of universities and research institutes in Maranhão. It is important to highlight that the northeast region of Brazil has a strong tradition in the research area of natural products.
This event also focuses on promoting a closer academia-industry approach, in order to strengthen investment opportunities and the development of products and processes of common interest to both entities.
São Luís, the capital of the state of Maranhão, is located on the Upaon-Açu island. Besides the beautiful beaches, the old city center of São Luís is recognised by UNESCO as historical heritage of humanity.

EU Tour of Brazil sessions
Coordinated by EURAXESS Brazil, an edition of the Tour of Brazil will be held within the official agenda of the 1st MCAA Brazil-EU workshop, on 29 September, from 08:30 to 12:00.
Presentations by EU member states and associated countries as well as their Brazilian partners will focus on Ongoing and future European-Brazilian partnerships related to the use of natural products.
The Tour of Brazil event is a joint effort among the European Commission and the representatives of Member States in Brazil with specific interest in promoting the visibility of the European research and the potential of the EU-Brazil cooperation in ST&I. The overall coordination of the Tour is ensured by the EU Delegation to Brazil with the support EURAXESS Brazil.
