Germany - Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, Neue Universitätsstiftung Freiburg, Bridging scholarship STAY! / Come and STAY!

The New University Endowment Freiburg and the University of Freiburg are committed to supporting female researchers who have successfully completed their doctorate and want to pursue an academic career. The bridging scholarships “STAY! / Come and STAY!” are intended to unburden suitable junior researchers for the time needed to write a habilitation exposé or research exposé or an application for leadership of a research unit (six months) and enable them to subsequently apply for suitable follow-up financing in academia, such as a project staff position, a researcher’s or habilitation scholarship, etc. (another six months). RESEARCH FIELD: Formal sciences, Humanities, Natural sciences, Professions and applied sciences, Social sciences. DEADLINE DATE: 15/01/2019

United Kingdom - 4 Year PhD programme The University of Leeds

Applications are welcome from UK, EU and international students with, or expecting to obtain at least an upper 2nd class undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant area which might include medical or biomedical sciences, structural biology, biochemistry, imaging, physics, chemistry mathematics or computing. This award provides academic fees at the UK/EU rate and successful applicants will also receive a tax-free stipend (Years 1 and 2 - £19,919, Year 3 - £21,542, Year 4- £23,298) subject to satisfactory academic progression. One place is available for a non-UK/EU student, and there will be an annual contribution towards the international academic fee, leaving a deficit to be funded by the applicant of approximately £10,000 per annum. RESEARCH FIELD: Formal sciences, Natural sciences. DEADLINE DATE: 02/01/2019

Italy–Research Project of University of Trento

The project is centered on determining the contribution of epigenetic reprogramming on the chromatin organization occurring during tumor progression and metastasis formation. The objective of this proposal is to define the contribution of oncogenic enhancers to functional heterogeneity of tumorigenic cells during basal-like breast cancer progression and metastasis formation. We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic candidates, willing to challenge an innovative project by adopting a pro-active attitude and an analytical approach. The candidate is requested to have experience on NGS techniques and their analysis to address chromatin changes in cancer cells. The candidate should have a strong interest in interdisciplinary collaboration. The post-doc will experience both wet-lab and computational work, supporting candidates in establishing a unique skill set that it would be required for future quantitative biology studies. Availability to learn methodologies based on using animal models is also requested. Given the international framework, the candidate should also have good communication skills in English, and a team-oriented working attitude. RESEARCH FIELD: Formal sciences. DEADLINE DATE: 30/11/2018

Germany - LMU Research Fellowships

LMU invites applications from early-stage postdoctoral researchers from all fields of research who have recently completed their doctoral degrees. The program gives successful candidates the opportunity to carry out an independent research project with the support of an LMU professor and enhances their career development by fostering the training and mobility of fellows. RESEARCH FIELD: Formal sciences, Humanities, Natural sciences, Professions and applied sciences, Social sciences. DEADLINE DATE: 28/11/2018

United Kingdom - PhD in Engineering, Cardiff University

This research project proposes to quantify the effect of atmospheric conditions on the partial discharge thresholds on the more and all-electric aircraft. Decarbonisation of the transport sector is a major priority, both nationally and globally. It is estimated that the domestic and international aviation sectors constitute 2% of the global CO2 emissions arising from human activity. The member states of the UN International Civil Aviation Organisation are committed to offset any increases in emissions beyond 2020 which, combined with the drive for increasing fuel efficiency, will stimulate aircraft weight reduction beyond that already achieved through the adoption of composite airframe materials. Candidates should hold or expect to gain at least a 2.1 degree or a Master’s level qualification (or their equivalent) in a relevant subject. Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to demonstrate proficiency in the English language (IELTS 6.5 or equivalent). RESEARCH FIELD: Formal sciences, Professions and applied sciences. DEADLINE DATE: 31/12/2018
