Following the successful conclusion of treaty negotiations for Australia’s association to Horizon Europe's FP9 Pillar II programme, EURAXESS Australia and New Zealand and the Australian Government Department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR) are bringing the Horizon Europe Roadshow Australia 2026 to Australia’s eight state and territory capitals. Australia is now undertaking its domestic treaty processes and Australian entities will be able to apply for Horizon Europe Pillar II funding calls under the 2027 work program from 1 January 2027.
Horizon Europe is the European Union’s flagship research and innovation programme. Australia’s planned association opens new opportunities for Australian researchers, research organisations, industry and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and other research and innovation stakeholders to participate in collaborative research and innovation projects with partners across Europe and beyond.
The Horizon Europe Roadshow Australia 2026 will support Australian entities to participate from day one (1 January 2027) by helping the Australian research and innovation community understand the opportunities available and prepare for effective engagement in Horizon Europe.
Registration
Participation in the Horizon Europe Roadshow Australia 2026 is free of charge, but registration is required. Places are limited according to venue capacity, and early registration is encouraged.

Registration and check-in open at 9:00 am, with the programme commencing at 9:30 am and concluding at 12:30 pm.

Each half-day event will combine information on Australia’s association with Horizon Europe, an introduction to the programme, insights from Australian participation, and practical guidance on how Australian stakeholders can prepare for participation.

Australia and Horizon Europe: Association and Next Steps: An overview of Australia’s association to Horizon Europe, the domestic treaty making process, and next steps.
Understanding Horizon Europe: An introduction to the programme structure, work programmes, calls for proposals, application processes and evaluation criteria.
Learning from Experience: Insights and lessons from Australian participation in Horizon Europe and predecessor European Framework Programmes.
From Opportunity to Participation: Practical guidance on identifying relevant opportunities, understanding call topics, engaging with European partners, building or joining consortia, and positioning Australian research organisations, industry and SMEs for participation in collaborative projects.
Q&A and Open Discussion: An opportunity to raise questions and discuss practical aspects of engaging with Horizon Europe.
