About
EURAXESS Worldwide Country Representative for Australia & New Zealand, Mr Nishant Shandilya was invited by Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture (DG EAC) of the European Commission and the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), on 18 November 2025, to be a panelist for the session "Linking education & research towards the green transition" at the Regional Erasmus+ Cluster Meeting and Contact-Making Seminar 2025 for Asia, the Middle East and the Pacific, Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Other panelists included Pooja Khurana, Project Officer, European Citizen Science (ECS) and Marie Curie Alumni Association Career Development Manager and Rajeev Kumar Sinha, Erasmus+ National Focal Point for India, Under Secretary, International Cooperation Cell, Department of Higher Education (SPARC project). The panel was moderated by Bodo Richter, Head of Unit, International Capacity Building, European Education and Culture Executive Agency.
Nishant shared how global research mobility and international collaboration support sustainability goals, and how networks like EURAXESS, together with MSCA frameworks such as Staff Exchanges and COFUND, facilitate greener scientific partnerships. He also introduced two key nuances:
Greening mobility: shifting from maximising travel to optimising it through digital tools, longer but fewer stays, and institutional sustainability policies.
Science diplomacy for the green transition: how international R&I cooperation is increasingly aligned with climate resilience and low-emission innovation.
