EURAXESS Worldwide Country Representative for Australia & New Zealand, Mr Nishant Shandilya was invited by Deakin University to speak about Horizon Europe, on 3 June 2025, to PhD students, Early & Mid-Career Researchers and Senior researchers, from all research disciplines.
The physical session focused primarily on the EU Framework Programme - Horizon Europe and delved deeper into Pillar I (Excellent Science) and Pillar II (Global Challenges). Details on Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), European Research Council (ERC) Grants, ERC's Implementing Arrangements with NHMRC & ARC as well as NHMRC-EU Collaborative Research Grant Scheme were discussed. A high-level overview of Pillar II was also presented to showcase how and what involvement in collaborative research grants would entail.
The public session was followed by an invite-only roundtable discussion with Senior university leaders, Research and Innovation Portfolio Executive and team members. The discussion focused on strategic and operational aspects of getting involved in Horizon Europe as an institution; practical guidelines on how to make an institution competitive in attracting MSCA Global Fellows; how to leverage on the possibility of receiving ERC Synergy Grants; etc.
