Joint Call in the fields of Food safety & Agriculture, Sensors & Biomaterials, Biomedicine and Drug
Objectives and scope
Based on the Memorandum of Understanding between The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) and the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) signed in 2018, this call is launched to enhance the cooperative activities in the field of research between two countries.
The main objective of this call is to support research projects to promote the integrated joint research between two countries through the synergy between both countries’ teams.
As a part of this agreement, each country’s agencies evaluate the proposals of their respective national teams on projects selected according to their own priorities.
The purpose of a partnership between TÜBİTAK and NSTDA is to support projects for which there is genuine Turkish-Thai collaboration. Partners will ensure that each country provides equitable contributions and scientific inputs; therefore, we would like to invite Turkish and Thai universities, research centers and institutes to submit joint proposals for scientific and technological research and development projects.
Under this initiative, the TÜBİTAK and NSTDA will operate calls that will run in parallel with one another:
Successful projects prepared in the fields below will be supported within the scope of the program. Proposals submitted in other fields will not be accepted.

Biomaterials, Biomedicine and Drug
Duration
Projects must start in both the Turkey and Thailand by January 2021.
Projects may be up to three (3) years in length.

Funding available
In total up to THB 10.8M will be made available by the NSTDA for this joint call the TÜBİTAK contribution will be made available to the Turkey collaborators to fund the Turkish component of the collaborative research projects. TÜBİTAK will provide funding under standard arrangements.
NSTDA funds will be made available to fund the Thai collaborators.
The total funding available for this call is as follows:
· NSTDA - up to THB 10.8 M(THB 3.6 M per project) in support to the successful Thai applicants
· TÜBİTAK - up to $ 450,000 (THB 14.4 M)in support to the successful Turkish applicants
It is expected that this funding will support approximately 3 joint projects in 3 areas, depending on the number and quality of proposals received.

How to apply
For Thai applicants, Full applications must be submitted by project coordinators on behalf of Thailand via electronic mail (natnicha.phi@nstda.or.th) until 8 June 2020 (16:00 BKK time) and the application print should be signed by the respective legal persons and be sent to NSTDA until 15 June 2020.
For Turkey applicants, Full applications must be submitted by PI on behalf of Turkey PIs via the online application system (http://uidb-pbs.tubitak.gov.
Eligibility for the Thai applicants
Research proposals may be submitted by:
- Public research institutions in Thailand
- Higher education institutions in Thailand
Within the scope of this call, an individual can take part in proposals as a PI only once.
Assessment Process and decision making process
To be funded, proposals must be internationally competitive and at a standard equivalent to that normally expected to be supported by TÜBİTAK and NSTDA

Following this process, applications will be assessed by TÜBİTAK –NSTDA Steering Committee in November 2020.
