DAAD - TUM Asia Science Lecture
Beyond the technological breakthroughs that Industrie 4.0 continues to offer, its far-reaching impact on both the social and political domains cannot be ignored. Industrie 4.0 will transform the way we live, work and relate to each other. Emerging forms of cooperation such as crowdsourcing and flexible work practices will change the traditional organisation of work. Governments will have to be increasingly involved in taking the lead to drive change and adopt new approaches to public engagement and policymaking, bearing in mind the accompanied consequences of Industrie 4.0. Hence, it is important to understand the impact that Industrie 4.0 brings and be prepared for these future changes.
Through sharing from experienced academics and government personnel on Industrie 4.0’s impact on society and politics, we hope to shed light on how various stakeholders can better prepare themselves to cope with the impending disruption and understand how current labour policies are framed in Singapore to help the local workforce deal with the transition.
