Prof. Dirk Linke - studied Biochemistry (Freie Universität Berlin; Germany) and holds a PhD in Biophysics (Technical University Berlin). During his garaduate studies, he worked mostly on plant membrane transporters. As a PostDoc, he moved to southern Germany to work in a Max Planck Research Institute (today called the MPI for Biology, but it had a different name then). There, he switched gears and used his knowledge on transport proteins and biological membranes to work on microbial transport processes that are essential in pathogenesis. After more than 10 years as a PostDoc and group leader, he transitioned to Norway to become a professor in Molecular Microbiology at the University of Oslo in 2013. His core research interests today are bacterial adhesion and bacterial membrane transport.
