The Future of Food

About

netherlands_innovation_network

Presented by SGInnovate, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Singapore, and the Netherlands Innovation Network

Food production is increasingly at the cutting edge of science and technology, as the global need to innovate and to sustainably feed our planet becomes an imperative. In Asia, the food industry will need to transform over the next decade in response to population growth and changing consumer requirements, as well as to other global challenges such as climate change and environmental degradation (The Asia Food Challenge, 2019).

Science and technology will be essential in helping to solve this global food challenge, as scientists around the world, notably in the Netherlands’ Food Valley, experiment and pilot new food technologies, urban farming solutions, nutrients recycling, and food waste management, etc. This is a multi-stakeholder effort and requires investment and collaboration across the food industry, including corporates, startups, investors, academia and government.

Presented by SGInnovate and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Singapore, our Future of Food webinar series aims to bring together the international food innovation ecosystem as we engage in discussions on opportunities and challenges across food systems to shift towards a more sustainable approach, and the importance of science and technology to bring us closer to the UN Sustainable Development Goal to “end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.”
