CLIMATE change has been deemed to be an environmental pandemonium that has accosted political, economic, social and human systems. It has created a daunting challenge and dismal innervation to humanity. However, its catastrophic impacts and risks have been staved off either by adaptation solutions using digitalisation or mitigation approaches conducted by different institutions, agencies and centers through collaboration and partnerships.
In this session, you get to meet ASEAN science diplomats and climate scientists, who are also members of the EU-ASEAN Scientific Network initiated by EURAXESS ASEAN, and their work to address sustainability challenges through science diplomacy and cooperative initiatives. Get to know the Environmental and Climate Change Research Institute and their platform that provides elucidations in reducing disaster risks and preventing potential damage and losses through scientific wide-ranging assessment, capacity development, project management and multilateral cooperation among actors. Find ways to engage and collaborate in future projects. Join us!
‘Connecting Europe with the global research community with EURAXESS Worldwide’

Openness and enhanced cooperation are integral elements of Europe’s international research agenda and its ambition to take on a leadership role in tackling societal challenges. With offices in 9 locations across the globe, EURAXESS Worldwide plays a strong supporting role in this strategy by building bridges between the European Research Area and its global partners.
Designed as a compressive information & support tool, EURAXESS Worldwide works with thousands of researchers, scientists, engineers, innovators, students, and entrepreneurs to initiate scientific exchange, to build global partnerships, and to promote international mobility.
In this session, you are introduced to the EURAXESS Worldwide team and its key role as a networking platform and global beacon for Europe’s offers in research and innovation. The session will zoom in on the activities of the global EURAXESS network in different parts of the world – Africa, Australia, China, India, Japan, Korea, Latin America & Caribbean, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia. Join us to discover new opportunities for collaboration and networking with the global research community.
About ESOF
The EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) was founded in 2004 by EuroScience, the non-profit grassroots organization of researchers in Europe. It is a biennial meeting designed to offer the scientific community a platform for interdisciplinary and intersectional debate about scientific culture, scientific research and innovation, for and with society. Since its inception, ESOF has become the largest conference of its kind in Europe.
ESOF is comprised of different components:
- The main programme with lectures, seminars, workshops, debates and poster presentations on the latest advancements in scientific research, scientific practice and related policy issues, structures around a series of keynote speakers and interactive sessions.
- An exhibition that showcases the best in European scientific activity and research whether academic or industrial, from both the public and private sectors.
- A public engagement programme in the form of the European Science in the City Festival.
- A wide variety of other meetings, satellite events and networking opportunities.
The Who and What of ESOF
ESOF routinely brings together over 4,500 leading thinkers, innovators, policy makers, journalists, educations from more than 90 countries to discuss current and future breakthroughs in contemporary science. Each conference aims to deliver stimulating content using a wide range of creative and interactive session formats meant to foster a lively exchange of ideas through debate and other interactions.
Originally the hybrid format of onsite and online participation was adapted due to the pandemic. However, it was such as success, that this year’s conference in Leiden has opted to continue the hybrid format since it allows for maximum and inclusive participation and minimizes climate impact.
