As well as being revised and updated to improve the user experience, GERiT also provides an expanded range of information. For many universities it now provides links to careers pages and Wikipedia entries, as well as various identifiers giving access to further information.

“GERiT - German Research Institutions” (gerit.org) showcases the diversity of the German research landscape and provides details of more than 25,000 institutes at German universities and non-university research institutions.

GERiT presents information about German research institutions in both English and German, with a profile that includes a location map. The information provided is organised according to the subject classification system used by the Federal Statistical Office (DESTATIS), which includes more than 650 subject areas, to describe the subject profile of the institutes listed in GERiT. The system also provides the contact details of each institute and maps that make it easy to find your way there. A link is given to each institute’s own website, so the user can access up-to-date and more detailed information about an institution’s profile.

For many universities GERiT also provides a link to the institution’s own careers portal. In collaboration with the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK), whose Higher Education Compass the system links to, GERiT indicates whether an institute offers doctoral programmes. If so, a link is provided to the university’s doctoral regulations. Information about DFG-funded projects listed in the information system GEPRIS can also be accessed directly from the individual pages in GERiT.
