UCLouvain Opens 2027 Call for Incoming International Postdoctoral Fellowships

The Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain), Belgium, has launched its 2027 call for Incoming Postdoctoral Fellowships, offering an attractive opportunity for highly qualified researchers from around the world to pursue research in Europe.

Funded through UCLouvain’s Special Research Fund (FSR), the programme will support 15 postdoctoral fellowships of up to three years in duration. The initiative aims to foster international scientific mobility and strengthen research excellence across all academic disciplines.

Who Can Apply?

The call is open to:

  • Researchers holding a doctoral degree;
  • Researchers with a maximum of five years of postdoctoral experience;
  • Researchers of any nationality;
  • Internationally mobile researchers who have not lived or carried out their main activity in Belgium for more than 24 months during the three years preceding the project start date.

All scientific disciplines are eligible.

Fellowship Benefits

Successful applicants will receive a tax-exempt postdoctoral fellowship for a period ranging from 12 to 36 months. The funding package includes social security contributions, insurance coverage, and an operating budget to support research activities.

Selection Process

Applications will undergo a multi-stage evaluation process that includes:

  1. Eligibility screening;
  2. Preselection by the UCLouvain Research Council;
  3. International peer review of top-ranked proposals;
  4. Interviews conducted by the Research Council selection committee.

Applications will be assessed based on the quality of the applicant, the excellence of the research proposal, and the expected impact of the project.

Applications must be submitted online no later than 23 September 2026 at 09:00 (CEST).
