OFFER DESCRIPTION
[Explanation of institution (recruitment background, institution details, explanation of project, etc.)]
In Computational Omics Research Team, Artificial Intelligence Research Center, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), we are developing informatics methods for analyzing big data produced in life science research. In this recruitment, we seek a postdoc researcher who develops novel computational methods for efficient predicting the evolution of various viruses.
[Job details (duties, subject responsible for, etc.)]
Applicants will develop novel computational methods to efficiently predict the evolution of various viruses, such as covid-19. Specifically, applicants will develop theoretical strategies to predict how the mutation of viral protein (e.g., S1 protein of covid-19) will change its stability to various conditions, such as temperature and pH, and its binding ability to human proteins (e.g., ACE2 receptor). We develop a novel protocol for efficiently finding the effect of mutations using molecular dynamics simulation and machine learning. We seek applicants from a wide range of research fields, including bioinformatics, biophysics, structural informatics, etc. We also welcome researchers who have strong motivation to change their fields. (In fact, we have some researchers on our team who have transferred from experimental areas.)
