Position Summary
This Post-Doc Health Economist position will be part of a multi-disciplinary team at the School of Public Health and the National Cancer Registry Ireland (NCRI). S/He will lead work on the modelling of the health economics of cancer in Ireland using cancer registry related data. This work will contribute to much needed information on the costs of cancer care and ever increasing survivorship. The primary function of this position is to investigate the potential for employing routinely-collected cancer registration data in health economics analyses such as cost, resource and health-related quality of life analyses. The work will evaluate the current model of cancer care in Ireland contributing to planning for future health care needs, resource allocation and policy development. The overall vision for the programme of research is to improve care for people with cancer in Ireland and to reduce the preventable economic and societal burden of cancer. The health economist will take a leadership role in the economic evaluation and modelling for this project and will also have a wider role of developing health economics at NCRI and in the School of Public Health.
