The University of Salzburg invites applications for a full time postdoctoral position in the lab of Iris Gratz, PhD.

The “Tissue Immune Regulation” group of Iris Gratz is part of the Department of Molecular Biology, which has a focus on Immunology and Cancer.

Our research group focuses on the role of tissue-resident T cells in health and disease. The candidate will be part of a team working on the regulation of T cell responses in the skin in both animal models and humans, with a special focus on skin-immune interactions. The specific project aims at the elucidation of anti-cancer responses of skin-tropic gd-T cells using a skin-humanized mouse model.

Responsibilities

The applicant will be responsible for:

  • Performing their own experiments within a research team
  • Regular reporting to the sponsoring company (a London-based biotech company)
  • Regular communication with international research partners in the UK and USA

Profile

We are looking forward to applications from highly motivated and experienced (molecular) biologists / biochemists / bioengineers / or MDs.

Applicants should have excellent spoken and written English, have completed a PhD in Immunology or Skin Biology with a strong expertise in cellular and molecular immunology. Experience in flow cytometry, the analysis of patient material (including human T cells) as well as murine in vivo models would be highly beneficial. Also beneficial will be experience in bioinformatics approaches to study the transcriptome of immune and tissue cells.

Offer

We offer a 1.5-year full time postdoctoral position (earliest start: March 2018) with the possibility of 1.5-year-extension in a challenging and well-equipped research environment with excellent research facilities. The salary will be in accordance with the University salary scales for post-doctoral researchers and based on previous work experience (https://www.fwf.ac.at/en/research-funding/personnel-costs/).
