The training of teachers of Spanish for immigrants in different educational contexts

University and continuous training, teachers of Spanish for immigrants, collaboration between universities, language-support classrooms and Official Language Schools.

The subject matter of the project is focused on the training of teachers for the teaching of Spanish to immigrants in all educational contexts: university training, and teachers in Primary and Secondary Education (language-support classrooms), in Official Language Schools and in humanitarian associations.

The starting point of the project is the necessity of adjusting the academic training of teachers to the job market and to the nature of present-day Spanish society, particularly the elevated number of immigrants. The aim is to deal with both the university education of future teachers of Primary and Secondary Education, and the continuing education of teachers in the public system. The focus of the project also enables researching into the training of teachers in institutions such as the Red Cross, non-profit organizations such as Granada Acoge, etc. The project is focused on the linguistic and didactic training of these professionals for the teaching of Spanish as a second language, in other words, to immigrants. Representatives of various institutions and European countries are collaborating in the project: universities, language-support classrooms and Official Language Schools.
