Description

IdiPAZ's Laboratory of Immunogenetics of Human Diseases - LIGHD (www.lighd.org) is a young and highly motivated lab, and a key infrastructure of La Paz University Hospital (the 2nd biggest in Madrid Autonomous Region). We have extensive experience in the discovery of new genetic etiologies of Primary Immunodeficiencies (PIDs) by means of next generation sequencing and homemade computational tools.

Due to the new public health emergency, we are participating in the international COVID-19 Human Genetic Effort (https://www.covidhge.com/), studying monogenic inborn errors of immunity, underlying the causes for severe forms of COVID-19 in previously “healthy” individuals.

LIGHD is seeking for ambitious proactive young postdoctoral researchers from the fields of bioinformatics, maths or metabolism profiles to develop their own postdoctoral research project with us.

We will expect to see in the Letter of motivation a compelling idea to explore together, regarding the main lines of research of our lab:

  • Primary Immunodeficiencies,
  • Secondary Immunodeficiencies,
  • Translation of genetic data into phenotypic characterisation,
  • Determinants of COVID-19 virulence in patients without previous conditions.

We will offer a supportive work environment, balancing freedom of research and mentoring, access to our patients and volunteers biological samples and an attractive complementary training.
