Description

The Centre for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (CNC – http://www.cnbc.pt) at the University of Coimbra (UC, Portugal) welcomes expressions of interest from excellent postdoctoral researchers to apply, jointly with a research supervisor from CNC, to the European Commission Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship Scheme.

Selected candidates will be offered both academic and administrative support from CNC with regards to proposal development.

 

The Marie Skłodowska Curie Action Funding Scheme

The Marie Skłodowska Curie Action is a funding scheme that supports researcher mobility: Individual Fellowships may last 12-24 months involving a research project, advanced training and knowledge exchange at the host institution (CNC). It offers a competitive salary, research costs, mobility and family allowances.

Applicants are expected to have an excellent CV and a strong publication record. They must hold a PhD (or have four years full time research experience) and must not have spent more than 12 months in Portugal in the 36 months prior to the call deadline. No nationality requirements apply.

The Centre for Neuroscience and Cell Biology

The Centre for Neuroscience and Cell Biology (CNC) is a private non-profit R&D centre founded in 1990 and affiliated with the University of Coimbra. CNC brings together expertise from multiple disciplines such as biomedicine, life and natural sciences, pharmacy and biotechnology, in close collaboration with the Coimbra University Hospitals (CHUC) and the biotech and pharmaceutical sector. CNC offers a PhD programme in Experimental Biology and Biomedicine (PDBEB), as well as advanced training and research in a few international programmes. It is also involved in numerous initiatives for participatory research and science communication and dissemination.

 

Research Areas

The Center builds on a diverse disciplinary background to develop fundamental and translational research and advanced training in biomedical sciences along three main research lines:

I-Neuroscience and Brain Diseases

II-Metabolism, Aging and Disease

III-Molecular Therapy and Stem Cell Biotechnology

 

Steps to Follow

- by August 11th, 2017 express you interest by sending

i) a 2-page summary of your research proposal (have a look at the MSCA proposal template available in the Guide for Applicants);

ii) a CV (max. 2 pages plus full list of publications) and copy of the PhD diploma;

iii) a cover letter.

We strongly encourage you to look for a potential supervisor among the CNC group leaders and PIs and contact him/her in advance to inquire on his/her willingness to have you has a MSCA-fellow.
