The Department of Environmental Science conducts fundamental and problem-oriented research within ecological, chemical and physical contexts in the environment, as well as in economic, political and social conditions in the interaction between environment and society. The Department carries out research-based public administration and provides research-based advice. 

The academic expertise ranges from atmospheric chemistry and physics, to environmental chemistry, microbiology and biotechnology, to environmental economics, environmental geography, politics and sociology. 

An important task is to offer research-based public services and advice in the environmental field.  

We are about 150 employees as well as students and guest researchers. Together we have an exciting and inspiring work and study life, and we work closely with researchers from many Danish and foreign institutions. 

The Department of Environmental Science is located at Risø near Roskilde, outside Copenhagen. 

Research programs 

The Department of Environmental Science works interdisciplinary with society's challenges, including 7 strategic growth areas. 

Here, chemists, microbiologists, atmospheric physicians, geographers, engineers, economists, sociologists and political scientists contribute in close collaboration with methods and knowledge to create sustainable development.

We are looking for ambitious Marie Curie fellows with project ideas within the topics outlined on our departmental website. We expect you to have an excellent research track records (minimum one first author publication or the like depending on area) and be enthusiastic about the research areas our department works with. Your written and verbal English must be at an academic level.

 

Eligibility conditions

MSCA Fellowships are highly flexible in terms of research focus and pay a generous salary for grant recipients over 2 years. The eligibility requirements are:

  • Your PhD-age must be maximum 8 years by the call deadline measured from the date that the researcher was in possession of a doctoral degree and certified by appropriate documents. Years outside research and career breaks (e.g. due to parental leave), will not be taken into account.
  • Mobility: For European Fellowships you may not have lived in Denmark for longer than 12 months in the past 3 years at the time of application (mid September 2021). You can move to Denmark from other EU countries as well as non-EU countries.
  • Only one proposal per individual researcher can be submitted. In case of several proposals involving the same individual researcher, only the last submitted one will be considered eligible.
  • If proposals with the same research objectives and workplan are submitted for different researchers, only the first submitted one will be considered eligible.
