The GeoSat Research (Geophysical -Satellite Remote Sensing and Archaeo-Environment) Lab, Institute for Mediterranean Studies, Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH) is located at Rethymno, Crete, Greece. The Lab has been the first in the area of Eastern Mediterranean offering an integrated and specialized suite of tools dealing with Earth Observation (Satellite, UAV, Aerial, SAR, ground based) prospection and GIS management of environmental resources and cultural heritage monuments.

The Lab is looking for a passionate postdoc researcher of any nationality to apply for the U Marie Sklodowska-Curie Individual Fellowships (MSCA-IF) under the 2021 call, within the following thematic areas:

  • Satellite Remote Sensing
  • Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
  • UAV/Drone
  • Geomorphology / Physical Geography

All these technologies and scientific approaches can be applied individually or simultaneously for both environmental surveillance and archaeological prospection.

MSCA-IF supports the mobility of researchers, and the grant normally covers 24 months of salary, a mobility allowance, research costs and overheads for the host institution. Individual researchers submit proposals for funding in liaison with their planned host organization.
