Description
The Cavanilles Institute for Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology, as its name indicates, makes research with relates all aspects of biodiversity, including functional diversity, and evolutionary processes. Research of the Microbial Ecology Lab, within the Group of Limnology, deals with biogeochemical processes and microbial interactions in aquatic environments, especially on aspects related to several components of global change, such as climate change and environmental pollution.
The University of Valencia is implementing since 2017 the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HRS4R),this seal recognizes the University’s ability to attract talent, create a favourable work conditions, encourage research and enhance the careers of researchers in Europe: https://www.uv.es/uvweb/research-service/en/uv-research/human-resources-strategy-researchers-1286005500771.html
Brief description of the project: The project deals with the evaluation of the climate role of lakes and wetlands, within the regulation of the carbon cycle. An evaluation of the carbon sequestering and GHG capacities of the main types of lakes and wetlands worldwide will be performed using observational, experimental, and modelling approaches, then being related to the main regulatory factors, from the molecular to the ecosystem levels. The candidate is expected to hold a doctorate on biogeochemistry and/or microbial ecology, preferably with experience in the use of molecular tools and bioinformatics, as well as in ecological modelling, on environmental studies. Having a good publication record that demonstrates the own candidate capacity but also her/his ability to collaborative work would be very valuable.
Documents to be submitted by the candidates:
- Curriculum vitae complete, including publication list.
- Motivation letter, including research interests
