The Learning and Machine Perception (LAMP) group from the Computer Vision Center performs fundamental and applied research on deep learning applied to computer vision problems.  The group consists of 5 PhDs and around 14 PhD students and a varying number of master and visiting students. Recent research includes work on deep learning for multi-modal data representations, image-to-image translation models, representation disentanglement, network compression, crowd counting, object tracking, image retrieval, active learning and learning without forgetting. The LAMP group offers a stimulating environment to perform top quality science on deep learning. The prospective postdoc would be expected to co-supervise PhD students on related projects to his proposal. The LAMP group works with a wide range of international researcher labs, including INRIA (France), Univ. Montreal, Univ. Florence, Univ. Milano-Bicocca, Chinese Academy of Sciences. We are involved in a wide range of national, EU, and knowledge transfer project.

Project description: We are interested in a wide range of research topics on deep learning. We also encourage candidates with a background in machine learning, or human language understanding (HLU), who are interested to switch to deep learning for computer vision, to apply. We are also interested in candidates who would like to work on generative adversarial networks (GANs), reinforcement learning, estimation of inverse problems in physics based computer vision (intrinsic images), and multi-modal data representations. Candidates should have a PhD in a related subject, and preferably have published high-impact journals and at the top computer vision and/or machine learning conferences CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NIPS, ICML, and ICLR. Candidates are encouraged to contact us (joost@cvc.uab.es) informally before submitting.
