Description

The Cologne Graduate School of Ageing Research (CGA) is a joint graduate programme formed by a merger of the CECAD Graduate School and the International Max Planck Research School AGE (IMPRS AGE) with the goal to train a new generation of biomedical scientists who can take on the diverse challenges of making fundamental scientific discoveries in basic ageing research and translate them into improvements in health and life for people as they grow older. The CGA comprises faculty from the following partner institutions:

The CGA offers comprehensive Ph.D. training in the highly interdisciplinary field of ageing research. The three-year programme provides excellent research conditions with intensive supervision and state-of-the-art facilities in an international environment. The structured training programme starts with an introductory phase providing information on the University of Cologne and all CGA partner institutions with focus on the field of ageing research as well as an orientation about the facilities and participating research groups. This is followed by short laboratory rotations in three groups after which the PhD candidate selects the final laboratory for his/her doctorate. The Ph.D. programme is complemented by annual retreats, seminars, lectures, and courses on ageing-related topics as well as soft skills, methods and career development courses. The official programme language is English.

We are seeking highly qualified students holding a M.Sc. or equivalent degree with a background in Cell / Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, Biophysics, Bioinformatics, Translational Medicine or a related field with a strong interest in ageing research.
