A postdoctoral (“Research Scientist“) position in the above topics is open within Thomas Johann Seebeck Department of Electronics at Tallinn University of Technology, Tallinn, Estonia. The topic concerns medium access control (MAC) activities, including for example baseline MAC layer actions in LoRaWAN; however, to provide robust connectivity, high performance and reliability in packet reception, distributed MAC protocols (i.e., CSMA/CA) may not be very suitable. In this work, investigate of new MAC protocols and techniques which would be cognitive and adaptable to the dynamic variations of the applications use-cases of IoT.
The post is funded by the prestigious European Research Area Chair project “Cognitive Electronics (COEL)”. Applicants must have a doctoral degree (or about to complete) in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or in a relevant field. Research experience in MAC protocols and resource constraint optimization is essential. Networks simulator experience is a significant advantage. Familiarity with physical layer system designs and smart signal processing techniques would be an advantage. Candidates should have experience in publishing research findings in impact international journals and reputable conference proceedings.
The candidate will be responsible for conducting research and possibly mentoring MSc and PhD students in research projects.
The closing date for receipt of applications is January 15. 2017. Interviews will be held during the 3rd calendar week 2017. The position is initially available for one year and is possibly renewable, based on mutual interest and on the availability of funding.
