Your tasks:

- In the team "Economics & Transportation" you will be responsible of maintaining and extending MATSim Urban Air Mobility simulation framework

- In cooperation with Bauhaus Luftfahrt colleagues, our industrial partners and international research institutes you will work on the method development for UAM fleet assignment, dispatching, pooling or airspace integration

- You will also integrate, test and validate developed methods within the MATSim framework

- You contribute your ideas in an interdisciplinary team to internal design projects as an software developer or engineer and as a specialist for modelling and simulation

 

Your qualifications:

- You have successfully completed your study in the area of software development, transportation or aeronautics and intend to obtain a PhD

- You have excellent programming qualities (e.g. JAVA) and good mathematical and analytical capabilities, and you are willing to acquaint yourself with new topics and tools

- Ideally you have knowledge with opensource platform MATSim as well as methods with regards to fleet assignment, dispatching, pooling and optimization

- Reliability, preciseness, and self-reliance are among your strengths

- You are interested in target-oriented tasks and in working in an interdisciplinary team

- You are proficient in German and English

What is funded

 

Study Conditions

 

Scholarship recipients are part of an Accredited Research Group and attend the association's Graduate School. On average there are three supervisors attending them: a doctoral advisor, the head of the respective Research Group and the Munich Aerospace Administrative Office. The scholarship amount is 1,575 euros per month (tax-free as per Sec. 3 no. 44 German Income Tax Act, EStG) granted for a minimum of 12 months and limited to a maximum of 3 years.

Application Prerequisites

The scholarships are intended for university graduates with a degree in a subject related to aerospace who wish to obtain a doctoral degree at the Technical University of Munich or the Bundeswehr University Munich (UniBwM). The following application prerequisites apply:

- A degree in a subject related to aerospace with a final grade of "good" or better;

- fulfilling the prerequisites for admission to a PhD programme at the TUM or the UniBwM;

- no more than three years must have elapsed between the date on the university degree certificate and the application for scholarship.

- certified copies of relevant academic degree certificates.
