Summary: A research position for 1 (one) Research Grant ("Bolsa de Licenciado") is open at Instituto de Telecomunicações, in the scope of project TWIN - with Nr. 069557 (POCI-01-0247-FEDER-069557), funded by the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER), through the Competitiveness and Internationalization Operational Programme (COMPETE 2020) of the Portugal 2020 framework.

Admission Requirements: The scholarships referred to in this call may be used to carry out initial R&D activities by students enrolled in a professional higher technical course, in a degree, an integrated master's or a master's degree graduates and also who are enrolled in non-conferencing courses academic degrees integrated into the educational project of a higher education institution, developed in association or cooperation with one or more R&D units. Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Informatics Engineering or equivalent, with background in Networking, SDN and virtualization solutions. Optionally, network security knowledge, Kubernetes, Openstack and automation tools may be valued.

Work Objectives: Contribute to the design, development and evaluation of solutions for orchestration of solutions, considering high availability and delay intolerant services in hybrid cloud scenarios. Contribute to project reports. Participate in project meetings.

Applicable legislation: A fellowship will be celebrated according to the regulations defined by FCT, “Regulation of Instituto de Telecomunicações’ fellowships” and “Estatuto do Bolseiro de Investigação”, according to Law no. 40/2004, dated August 18 (Status of Scientific Research Fellow), in its actual redaction, and also by Fundação para Ciência e Tecnologia, I.P. Fellowship Regulation of Fundação para Ciência e Tecnologia. Place of work: The work will be developed at the premises of Instituto de Telecomunicações at University of Aveiro, under the supervision of Prof. João Paulo Barraca.

Duration: 6 months, with the possibility of renewal until the end of the project. Start date: April 2021 or soon thereafter.

Monthly salary: 805.98€ according to the table of grant amounts awarded directly by FCT for positions held in Portugal (www.fct.pt/apoios/bolsas/valores ). The payment will be made by bank transfer.

Selection criteria:

Curriculum vitae/Academic evaluation (40%)

Suitability of the candidates’ profile to the project based on the relevant work experience in the tasks described in the work plan (50%)

Fluency in oral and written English (10%)
