A suitably qualified and experienced PhD level scientist is sought for the development of an application for a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship opportunity under the Career-Fit PLUS programme (https://www.horizon2020.ie/career-fit-plus/). The research topic involves the development of next-generation whey-based ingredients for nutri- and techno-functional applications.
The project proposal under consideration involves access to the extensive research facilities at University College Cork along with direct interaction with a leading Irish dairy ingredients manufacturer. It represents a unique opportunity for a suitably qualified and motivated candidate for scientific advancement and career development. This should suit suitably qualified scientists with a demonstrable track record in dairy chemistry, technology or ingredient development.

Initial Requirements

Selected applicants will prepare a submission in conjunction with the academic mentor, Dr Seamus O'Mahony, and specific industry secondment mentors.
Dr Seamus O'Mahony
Dr O'Mahony is a lecturer in Food Science at University College, Cork. His research interests are:
- Food ingredients, structure and functionality
- Isolation, enrichment and purification of food constituents
- Nutritional product formulation, processing and functionality
- Protein-polysaccharide interactions in food systems
