About

Outline

Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have identified robust risk loci for Alzheimer’s disease (AD).

These findings serve as a starting point for novel biological investigation and treatment strategies, once such loci contains the transcription factor MEF2C.

This programme has a number of specific aims:

  • Identify the DNA targets of MEF2C genome-wide

  • Investigate the gene expression networks regulated by MEF2C isoforms

  • Define the MEF2C interactome

  • Test data driven hypotheses about the cellular function of MEF2C in microglia
