Outline
To foster highly capable researchers with wide international perspectives, this fellowship gives excellent young Japanese researchers an opportunity to carry out long-term research at an overseas university or research institution.
Under its policy for bilateral relations with funding agencies in other countries, the JSPS provides each year opportunities for young researchers to perform postdoctoral research stays abroad.
In 2016, the possible destination countries were Finland and Norway.

The programme covers travel fees and monthly allowance for a duration of 2 years.

Eligibility
To be eligible, a candidate must satisfy one of the following two requirements:
Ⅰ: Postdoctoral researcher employed as full-time researcher in a Japanese university, research institution, or national laboratory.
Ⅱ: Postdoctoral researcher who aspires to an above-listed fulltime research position.
The candidates must have received a doctoral degree within 5 year as of April of the year following the year of the call, and must be a citizen of Japan; or if a foreign national, must have permanent resident status in Japan.
