About
Outline
Available projects for the Mechanics, Materials and Advances Manufacturing research area 2018 include:
Natural Flood Processes for Flood Risk Management
The aim of this project is to develop a novel methodology to assess the effectiveness of Natural Flood Management (NFM) interventions in particular woody debris dams, at subcatchment and catchment scales.
The methodology is based on an integrated and complementary monitoring and modelling approach, which will lead to improved flood modelling software. The effectiveness will be tested using data from a new integrated field monitoring programme at a catchment in Shropshire (‘Shropshire Slowing the Flow’) and appropriate data from other NFM sites in England and Wales.
