Outline

The European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is one of the top life sciences research institutions in the world with sites in Grenoble, France; Heidelberg and Hamburg, Germany; Hinxton, UK; Rome, Italy; and Barcelona, Spain. The institute hosts an interdisciplinary Postdoctoral fellowship programme: the EMBL Interdisciplinary Postdoc (EIPOD4) programme4 which receives funding from Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions COFUND (grant agreement number 847543).

EMBL and Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions COFUND will fund about 20 EIPOD Postdoctoral Fellowship positions involving at least two EMBL research groups in 2020 For more information on the fellowship programme and to apply please visit: www.embl.org/eipod4

What is funded

Interdisciplinarity forms the basis of EIPOD projects. Applicants are invited to design an interdisciplinary research project of their choice according to their scientific interests. Each project will have one scientific supervisor from EMBL who will officially host the EIPOD, but all projects will involve extensive collaboration with the EMBL partner lab(s). External partners from academia, industry, clinics and museums are welcome to participate. EIPODs are based at an EMBL lab but may spend up to 6 months of their 3 year fellowship in an external partner lab .

Duration

EIPOD fellowships are awarded for a period of 3 years. M.D./Ph.D.s who may choose shorter fellowships to accommodate clinical responsibilities.The positions come with generous health care benefits and pension access.

Eligibility

The EIPOD fellowship programme is open to all nationalities, with the criteria being scientific excellence and interdisciplinarity. Applicants should have completed a Ph.D. degree or have 4 years of full-time equivalent research experience at the time of recruitment. Prior affiliation with EMBL can not exceed 12 months in the last 3 years prior to the submission deadline.
