About

Call for application – PhD grants in quantum sciences and technologies in Grenoble

We are opening in Grenoble a common PhD call in quantum sciences and technologies supported by the QuanTEdu PhD program and the QuanG Marie-Sklodowska-Curie Action COFUND program of the European Union, operated by the QuantAlps federation .
We are seeking talented and motivated applicants in the domains of physics, computer science, engineering, mathematics, chemistry, and humanities. Applications from female candidates are strongly encouraged.

Practical informations

  • Starting date: October 1st 2023 to February 1st 2024
  • Gross salary prior to employee tax deduction : 2100 euros for QuanTEdu-France; 2300 euros for QuanG. Additional travel allowance will be granted by both programs. For QuanG, it will cover up to 8000 euros the secondment costs (2 months in industries/companies or 4 months in international academic laboratories), including travel and accommodation, and the participation to international conferences and schools
  • Yearly enrollment to University Grenoble Alpes is around 500 euros (covered by QuanG)
  • Duration: 36 months
  • Application procedure: candidates have to present a PhD project (link at the bottom of the page), together with their future supervisors, following the instructions detailed in the application interface (Link at the bottom of the page). Eligibility criteria

- EU MSCA mobility criteria (applicants  must not have spent more than 12 months in France during the last three years (i.e., between March 18th 2020 and March 17th, 2023), not including holidays

- Industrial or foreign academic secondments

Should in priority contribute to the following fields:

- Quantum computing

- Quantum simulation

- Quantum communication

- Quantum sensing and metrology

  • Deadlines and timeline:
    • By March 17th 2023 at 17:00 (central European time): the complete application should be submitted through the web interface and the reference letters should be sent by email to quantum-grenoble-phd@listes.grenoble.cnrs.fr
    • April 17th to 21st, 2023: selection of candidates for an interview
    • June 5th to 7th, 2023: interview of the selected candidates
    • June 12th, 2023:  information on the outcome of the selection
    • June 18th, 2023: acceptance of the positions is required from the selected candidates
