Eranshahr: Central Zagros Archaeological Landscape

The project follows the research activities carried out within the Sapienza Unit of PRIN 2017 “Eranshahr: Man Landscape and Society in Arsacid and Sasanian Iran. Texts, material culture and society from Arsaces to Yazdegard III. Three case studies: Pars, Pahlaw and Khuzestan”. More specifically, the Research Grant project contributes to strengthen and widen the study of the historical and archaeological landscape, and the material culture of the central and northern Zagros (Shahrazur; Central Media) in the Arsacid, Sasanian, and proto-Islamic periods. The Candidate will participate in the archaeological projects of the DiSA - Dipartimento di Scienze dell’Antichità in Shahrizor valley (Kurdistan Region of Iraq) and the Kermanshah province (Iran). Furthermore, the Candidate is expected to write at least one relevant scientific paper concerning the area of central Zagros in the Arsacid and Sasanian periods.
